For The First Time In The History Of History, The Vegas Golden Knights Have Lost A Game In The Stanley Cup Playoffs

Thank. Fucking. God.

This has been a long time coming, folks. Listen. It was cute when the Vegas Golden Knights came out of the gates hot to start off the 2017-18 NHL season. It was incredible that they were able to remain toward the top of their division even when they went through a stretch of about a month or so when they had to use 5 different goalies. It was wild and historic when they were able to win their division in their inaugural season. But when they started off their run in the Stanley Cup Playoffs by winning 5 straight games? Well you have to draw a line somewhere.

So last night–for the first time ever–the Golden Knights suffered a loss in the playoffs and it came by the mitts of Logan Couture in the 2nd overtime period. And I couldn’t be happier about it. And you know what? This is better for Vegas in the long run. You can’t be considered a legitimate franchise until you’ve suffered at least one heartbreak in the playoffs. Until then, you’re like a kid who still believes in Santa Claus. But now that Vegas has that loss under their belt? Now that the fans in Vegas know that life in the NHL ain’t all sunshine and rainbows? Now I can respect them a little more.

By the way. I can’t believe a bunch of Philly fans flew out to Vegas just for game 2 of their 2nd round matchup against San Jose. Throwing trash on the ice after an overturned Jonathan Marchessault goal in overtime. Sickening!
